1. Yosemite Valley

When visitors hear Yosemite National Park, usually Yosemite Valley comes to mind. Yosemite Valley is home to many famous cliffs and waterfalls. Visitors can be found hiking the grounds and taking photographs. If you’re only in Yosemite National Park for a day, Yosemite Valley is a great place to explore because you can see the park’s iconic sights from one place. 2. Tunnel View Outlook

Tunnel View is known for having the best outlook of Yosemite Valley. From here, you can see El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall with Half Dome in the background. 3. Half Dome

Half Dome is best known for its Half Dome Cables during the hike to the top. The metal cables allow hikers to climb the last 400 feet to the summit without rock climbing equipment. Before attempting this hike, familiarize yourself with the rules. For starters, take your time hiking and avoid this climb if the weather looks iffy. Also, permits are required to use the cables, so be sure to inquire with the park staff. 

4. Glacier Point

For a different view of Yosemite Valley, check out Glacier Point. The panoramic view from Glacier Point takes in three waterfalls and Half Dome. During the day, visitors enjoy birdwatching and hiking in the area. If you stay until it’s dark, you can see the Milky Way stretched across the sky. 

5. Merced River

The Merced River surges through Yosemite Valley before mellowing into a raftable, three-mile-long, whitewater river. Head to Curry Village (now called Half Dome Village) and rent an inflatable raft. Float down the river with two to three of your closest friends. The Merced River is one of the best whitewater rafting paddle-boat trips in California; you cannot miss this experience! 

6. Mist Trail

Mist Trail is one of the shorter hikes in Yosemite National Park. Past the footbridge, guests will catch a view of Vernal Fall. Take the John Muir Trail and climb to the top of Vernal Fall. If you’re feeling adventurous, trek to the top of Nevada Fall. Prepare yourself for slick rocks and lots of waterfall sprays, hence the name Mist Trail. Consider building a cairn to leave your mark and send other climbers good luck.

7. Mariposa Grove

Mariposa Grove is the largest sequoia grove in Yosemite National Park; it is home to over 500 mature giant sequoias and growing. When you visit, there are several trails to check out, ranging from easy to strenuous. Maybe you’ll even see the two tallest Giant Sequoias in the world!
