Lake Mary is situated at an astounding 8,900 feet in the Mammoth Lakes Basin. Paddle past incredible views of Mammoth Crest and Crystal Crag on this popular lake. If you don’t have your own kayak, you can rent one from Lake Mary Marina. The mountain views on Lake Mary are a must-stop for kayakers. 

Horseshoe Lake

Horseshoe Lake is a great place to spend the day with the family. Horseshoe Lake is located just over a mile from Lake Mary, so you can expect the same breathtaking views here. The calm waters are perfect for a leisurely day on the water or if you’re a beginner at kayaking. And the sandy shores are perfect for a picnic next to the water! 

Convict Lake

If you are looking for a spot where you can fish from your kayak, look no further than Convict Lake. This alpine lake is a popular spot for anglers looking for exceptional trout fishing. But, if you don’t want to fish, paddling the crystal clear waters is just as popular. The backdrop of Convict Canyon and Laurel Mountain is one of the most beautiful sites in the region.

Mono Lake

Mono Lake is about 30 miles from Mammoth Lakes, but it is worth the trip. Mono Lake is one of the oldest lakes in the Western Hemisphere and covers approximately 65 square miles. The unique “tufa towers” here make paddling the waters feel like another world entirely. One of our favorite ways to explore Mono Lake is on a guided Caldera Kayak tour. A guided tour is the best way to learn about this ancient lake’s distinctive features and wildlife. 

June Lake

June Lake is located just about 20 minutes north of Mammoth Lakes and is a very popular spot for families to spend a beach day in the mountains. Easy access to the water, a gently sloping shore and incredible mountain views make June Lake a perfect place to launch a kayak, paddleboard or just float around in an innertube.
