Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center

Start your trip at the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center, open daily from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Inside the center, you can purchase books, maps, locally made art, and wilderness permits. You can also explore a small museum with exhibits highlighting the region's history, wildlife, and geology. Finally, the center offers free interpretive walks and talks for the public.

You can access the Shady Rest Path right from the welcome center for both summer and winter recreation! After exploring the center, discover activities available within Inyo National Forest.

Things to Do at Inyo National Forest Mammoth Ranger District Hiking and Bicycling

Inyo National Forest covers an impressive two million acres and is divided into four districts. The Welcome Center puts you in the Mammoth Ranger District, with endless hiking and mountain biking trails to explore.
